TOWN OF NIAGARA - A potentially dangerous fugitive was captured in the Town of Niagara Tuesday evening, according to Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve.
The fugitive, Johnathon R. Lagest, 33, is wanted by Colorado authorities as a sex offender with violent tendencies and facing 10 years to life upon his return.
The sheriff's office received information Monday evening from the Colorado Department of Corrections that Lagest may have been in the northern part of Marinette County.
It was further reported that he may have been camping and hiding out along a stream.
Lagest has family ties to the area, according to Sauve.
Deputy Lance Lincoln located a suspect matching Lagest's description Tuesday evening in a remote location in the Town of Niagara. He was arrested without incident.
Lagest was lodged in the Marinette County Jail and is awaiting extradition proceedings back to the State of Colorado.
