MARINETTE - The keel-laying ceremony for LCS 11, the future USS Sioux City, will be held at Marinette Marine's shipyard today at 2:45 p.m. Ship sponsor Mary Winnefeld, wife of Admiral James A. Winnefeld, Jr., vice chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff, will authenticate the keel. The keel is generally the first part of a ship's hull to be constructed an laying the keel is often marked with a ceremony. Leaders of the LCS program and the U.S. Navy will also attend.
