Doris M. Hilger, 82 of Menominee, Mich. passed away on Thursday March 13, 2014, at the Harbors. Doris was born on July 4, 1931, in Ontonagon, Mich. to the late James and Clarbel (Weisinger) Graham.
She attended the local school and graduated in 1949. She then attended St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Hancock, Mich., graduating in 1953, as a registered nurse. On November 14, 1953, Doris married Norman Hilger. After Norman was discharged from the Army the couple settled in Menominee, Mich. Norman preceded Doris in death on February 24, 2010. As her children were growing up, Doris was active in the cub scouts, girl scouts and 4-H. Doris's greatest joy in life was her family. Doris was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Menominee.
Survivors include her children: Sheldon (Lisa) Hilger, Sharon Alder and Stuart (Denise) Hilger; grandchildren: Christopher (Michelle) Hilger, Sam and Michael Alder and Jack and Ted Hilger; great-grandson: Logan Hilger; sister-in-law: Roberta Hilger; and her kind neighbors: Sarah and Paul Dahl, Tom Noon, Carol Pomrenke and Butch Jones. Doris was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Hilger; daughter, Sandra Morrish.
Private services will be held and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Menominee, Mich. next to her husband. Anderson Kell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.andersondiehm.com.
