Gerald W. Polasky, 74, of Menominee, Mich., passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wis. Gerald was born on October 12, 1939, in Menominee, Mich. to the late Orville and Dorothy (Madsen) Polasky.
Gerald proudly served his Country in the United States Navy from 1957-1960. On May 30, 1961, Gerald married the former Nancy Shaw in New London, Wis. Gerald owned and operated Holiday Wrecking and Towing until his retirement in 2010. He enjoyed traveling with his R.V. and wintering in Arizona. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Gerald was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, chairman of the Menominee Veteran's Council and Past Commander of VFW Post 1887.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy of Menominee, Mich.; son, Douglas (Amy) of Green Bay, Wis.; two daughters: Kim (Mark) Bradford of Schoolcraft, Mich. and Kathy (Ed) Dettling of Webberville, Mich.; four grandchildren: Justin and Taylor Dettling and Joe and Mary Katherine Polasky. Gerald was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Wilke and brother, John Polasky.
Family and friends may call at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 after 9 a.m. until time of Military Rites at 10:30 a.m. A memorial mass will be celebrated with Father Richard Allen officiating at 11 a.m.
Burial will be in Birch Creek Cemetery.
