Loretta F. Carviou, 91, Green Bay, died Friday, March 21, 2014, following a brief battle with cancer. She was born on October 11, 1922, in Marinette to John and Nora (Biernet) Stepien.
On June 5, 1943, Loretta married Henry Carviou at Camp Gruber in Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1973. Loretta was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. Once her kids were grown she worked as a cook at Marinette High School. In 1980, she moved to Green Bay where she worked as a cook at Employers Health, retiring in 1987. Loretta was a member of St. Agnes Parish. She will be remembered for her crocheting, doing crosswords, playing lottery tickets, watching golf, cooking and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Loretta is survived by her children and their spouses: Beverly Heilman, Green Bay; Kathy Gillett, Green Bay; Howard and Cindy Carviou, Clemmons, N.C.; grandchildren: Michael Bonack, Cindy (Rod) Sternhagen, Sara Gillett, Matthew Heilman, Ben Heilman, Christina Carviou, Eric Gillett, Melanie Carviou, Clayton Carviou; great-grandchildren: Alex and Cassidy Sternhagen; a son-in-law, Edward (Susan) Bonack; four brothers: twin Larry (Donna) Stepien, John (Sis) Stepien, George Stepien, Dale (Sandy) Stepien; five sisters: Eleanor (Rex) Fullerton, Stella Norton, Irene Gajewski, Jean Pamperin, Helen (Donald) Lund; two sisters-in-law: Marianne Carviou, Dorothy Carviou and Laurel Stepien; and many other relatives and friends. Besides her parents, Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; daughter, Phyllis Bonack; two brothers: Walter and Vernon Stepien; and a sister, Adeline Carviou.
Friends may call at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 Ninth St., Green Bay, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, APRIL 12, 2014. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, at the church with Rev. Patrick C. Beno officiating.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Walsh, Wis.
