Lucille Mildred (Vlies) McDougal passed away, November 23, 2013 at Rennes Health Care Center West, in Peshtigo, where she had resided for the last six years. She died peacefully while holding the hand of her only son, Richard. Lucille was born on October 7, 1920, in Oconto to Martin and Stella Vlies.
Lucille was the youngest of four children, brother Michael (Claire) Vlies; sisters, Laverne (Frank) Klozotsky and Ruth (John) Peshek, all of whom preceded her in death. While in high school, she met her future husband, Thomas McDougal, whom she married in 1940. They moved to Peshtigo in 1946, after his discharge from the Army, and remained lifelong residents of Peshtigo. Thomas preceded her in death in August of 2005. Lucille's greatest legacy, as well as her husbands, is having been wonderful grandparents. Their generosity and loving care towards their family has proved to be an exemplary model for their children and grandchildren, who called them Nan and Pappa, as did many of the kids in the neighborhood.
Surviving Lucille are her son, Richard and daughter-in-law, Jeanne; her grandson, Thomas (Rori) McDougal; and granddaughters: Erin (Drae) Setner and Megan (Matthew) Binsfeld; great-grandchildren: McKenzie, Madyson and Matthew McDougal, Jack and Joseph Setner and Elise, Anna Grace and Katherine Lucille Binsfeld; also survived by two nephews: Michael (Kim) Vlies and Robert (Jane) Klozotsky; and a niece, Janice (Gary) Mayer.
A private ceremony celebrating Lucille's life will be held at Berth & Rosenthal Funeral Home.
