Marc "Slim" Edmund Laurent

Marc "Slim" Edmund Laurent, 43, of Menominee, Mich., passed away at home, courageously after a four year battle with cancer with his loving family by his side on Friday afternoon, March 28, 2014. He was born on January 4, 1971, in Menominee to the late Wayne Laurent and Gloria (Nast) Courtney.
Marc graduated from Menominee High School class of 1989. He married the former Colleen Blake on April 15, 2005 in Las Vegas, Nev. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Marc worked at the former Great Lakes Pulp & Fiber as a forklift operator in the warehouse. He loved hunting, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, playing cards, shooting pool and throwing darts.
Along with his mother, Gloria (Mike Bellisle), Marc is survived by his loving wife, Colleen and their children: Brooke Blake and Matthew Blake, all of Menominee, Mich.. one sister, Becky (Brock) Bauer of Menomonee Falls, Wis.; one brother, Chad Laurent of Menominee, Mich,.; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Patricia and Richard "Snookie" Blake, along with all of his other in-laws; his many special aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, especially his goddaughter, Alayna Bauer and Sgt. Nicole Olson, who is serving our country in the United States Marine Corps; his step-mother, Mary Jo Laurent of Wallace, Mich.; two step-sisters: Sheri (Juston) Taylor of Cheyenne, Wyo. and Tammy Swikert of Wausau, Wis.; one step-brother, Craig (Lisa) Courtney of Sailne, Mich. and his canine buddy
"Sabor". In addition to his father, Marc was preceded in death by his step-father, Steve Courtney.
Visitation for Marc will take place at the Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 from 3 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. The Vigil prayer service will begin at 6:30 p.m. with Fr. Mark McQuesten presiding.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Menominee, Mich.
We would like to thank everyone for the heartfelt love and support that you have extended to our family at this most difficult of times. May God comfort all of you with a special blessing. We would also like to thank Dr. Halaweh from the Vince Lombardi Cancer Center, Marc's favorite nurses, Kate, Lisa, Carol and Heather and Marquette General Home Health & Hospice especially his favorite nurse Krista Vetort.
A memorial fund has been established in Marc's name. Colleen and family are asking that any expressions of sympathy and kindness please be directed to a family member.
