Mary Jane Jakups, 78, of Wausaukee, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 23, 2014, at her home. She was born in Wausaukee on April 7, 1935, daughter of John "Jack" and Viola (Duquaine) Edlebeck.
Mary Jane was born on a farm and attended St. Augustine School along with Wausaukee High School. She married Don Jakups on September 8, 1951, and raised 10 children. She owned and operated a Gas Station in Crivitz along with managing Highway Mobile Homes and the Wausaukee Bowl for many years. She enjoyed gardening, snowmobiling, fishing, canning, picking mushrooms and was an excellent cook. She was also the luckiest gambler. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Mary Jane is survived by her significant other, Fred Naud, of Wausaukee; ex-husband, Don Jakups of Crivitz; eight children: Donna (Bernard) McVane of Porterfield, Darlene (Milan) Kvaca of Pembine, Joanne (Tom) DeVetter of Green Bay, John (Yvonne) Jakups of Wausaukee, Jim (Laura) Jakups of Wausaukee, Jerry Jakups of Crivitz, Jody Jakups of Crivitz and Jayme Jakups of Marinette; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; four siblings: Don (RoseMary) Edlebeck of Wausaukee, Arlene DeVault of Ocala, Fla., Art (Shirley) Edlebeck of Ocala, Fla. and Chuck (Sharon) Edlebeck of Greendale, Wis.; daughter-in-law, Diane Jakups of Peshtigo; sister-in-law, Sharon Edlebeck of Wausaukee; brother-in-law, Roy Wellman of Fort Meyers, Fla.; and further survived by numerous extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by two children: Rose Ann Jakups and Joe Jakups; her parents; and four siblings: Pat, Dick, Janet and Bob.
Visitation is on Saturday, March 29, 2014, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Wausaukee. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. at the church with Father Walter Stumpf officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery this Spring.
