Matthew Zepka died at his home on Saturday, October 26, 2013, from complications due to a stroke on his 97th birthday, a few days earlier.
Matthew served proudly in the United States Army Air Corps, Pacific Theater, during World War II. He was in ordnance on B-29 bombers and was awarded the Bronze Star. Matthew worked in the CC Camps in Laona, Wis. and retired from Schwinn Bicycle Company in 1981.
Matthew is survived by his son, Leonard, and his wife, Linda; their six children: Lara (Brian) Behrendt, Lorianne (Jason) Sexton, Leonard M.F. Zepka II, Leslie Zepka, Lloyd Zepka and Lee Zepka; his great-grandchildren: Katelyn Huston, Mitchell Sexton, Joshua Huston, Luke Sexton, Spencer Behrendt, and Ava (Zepka) Gage. He is further survived by his sister, Lottie Malinowski; his son, Gary; daughters: Gloria and Margaret; and other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Agnes Zepka; his wife of 65 years, Anne (Veriha) Zepka; and a brother, Chester.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, October 29 at Annunciation Catholic Church, Green Bay.
Burial took place at Suamico Cemetery, with full military honors.
Blaney Funeral Home, Green Bay assisted the family.
