Michael John Gardon, 57, of Peshtigo, was called to eternal life unexpectedly on Thursday afternoon, August 7, 2014, due to a heart attack. He was born in Menominee, Mich. on July 5, 1957, to Charles C. and Mary Ann (Pesch) Gardon.
 Michael attended St. Mary’s Catholic Grade School and graduated from Marinette Catholic Central High School in 1975. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business from Marquette University in 1979. On November 5, 1983, he married the former Margaret (Peggy) Klumb at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Menominee, Mich. Employed by the Peshtigo Times for 35 years, he was the vice president and sports editor. A former coach of Peshtigo Little League and St. Mary’s grade school basketball, he presently umpired high school and Wishigan League baseball and refereed high school basketball. An avid golfer, he was a member of Little River Country Club in Marinette. He also treasured time spent with his sons and brothers hunting on the Hale Road Farm of his great uncle Joe Gardon. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Peshtigo Chamber of Commerce and the WIAA Officials Association.
  Survivors are his beloved wife, Peggy; three sons: Joseph (special friend Crystal) of Peshtigo, John (fiancé Kristin) of DePere, Jeffrey (special friend Lindsey) of Oshkosh and an only daughter, Emily (special friend, Joe) of Peshtigo. His parents survive along with six brothers: Charles P. (Debbie) Gardon of Peshtigo, Peter (Jean) Gardon of Verona, Patrick (Terry) Gardon of West Bend, Mark (Margaret) Gardon of Oneida, Paul (Sheryl) Gardon of Longmont, Colo. and John (Aimee) Gardon of West Chester, Ohio; and four sisters: Mary (Thomas) Moule of Green Bay, Anne Gardon of Silver Spring, Md., Elizabeth (Paul) Arneson of Marshfield and Kathleen (Paul) Olnes of Omaha, Neb. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Mary Ann Klumb of Menominee, Mich.; three brothers-in-law: Joe (Joann) Klumb and Jerry (Lisa) Klumb of Marinette, John (Sue) Klumb of Menominee, Mich.; two sister-in-law: Mary Jo (Steve) Haines and Maureen (Joel) Johnson of Green Bay. Many nieces and nephew also survive. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Alexander Nicholas; his father-in-law, Philip (Windy) Klumb,; grandparents: John and Marie Gardon and Leo J. Sr. and Anna Pesch.
  Visitation will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Peshtigo on Tuesday, August 12th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial. Rev. Father John Harper will be the celebrant along with Msgr. John Patrick.
  Burial will take place on Wednesday morning, August 13. A procession will begin from Berth and Rosenthal Funeral Home of Peshtigo at 9:30 a.m. and drive past the Peshtigo Times to Michael’s final resting place at Riverside Cemetery in Peshtigo. Msgr. Patrick will officiate at graveside services. Pallbearers include Mark Bruemmer, Sam Komp, John Lacourt, Al Mathy, Lee Mylener and Mike Piasecki.
  A memorial fund will be established in his name.
