Robert Edward Koutnik, Sr., 71, of Wallace, Mich., passed away on Monday, May 20, 2013. He was born on May 22, 1941, in Menominee, Mich. to the late Alex Jacob and Anna (Velich) Koutnik.
Robert graduated from Menominee High School class of 1959. Robert married the former Jacquelyn O'Neill on December 14, 1961, in Villa Park, Ill. He worked throughout the country as an iron worker for over 40 years and he was a member of the Iron Workers Union 1 in Chicago, Ill. and the Moose Lodge. Robert enjoyed hunting and gardening and had a special fondness for his rose garden.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of over 51 years, Jacquelyn; two sons: Robert Koutnik, Jr. of Marinette, Wis. and Patrick (Gina) Koutnik of Pleasant Gardens, N.C.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Marie (Ronald) Boesem of Marinette, Wis. and one brother, Kenneth (Jeanette) Koutnik, Sr. of Peshtigo, Wis. Along with his parents, Robert was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Tina; one sister, Annamae LaPalm and one brother, Alex James Koutnik.
Funeral services for Robert will be held at the Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of services. Rev. Scott Ehle will officiate.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Menominee, Mich.
