Robert Orton Hanson, 86, formally of Carbondale, Mich., passed away at New Care Convalescent Center in Crivitz, Wis. on Tuesday, November 5, 2013. He was born November 18, 1926, in Seymour, Wis. to the late Elmer and Cecelia (Melchior) Hanson.
Robert served our country proudly in the United States Army during World War II and after the service he returned home and married Helen Linsmeier in 1946 in Birch Creek, she preceded him in death on April 1, 1999. Robert was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Birch Creek. He owned and operated Hanson's Store and Bar in Carbondale, Mich. for 10 years then became a salesman for Beaudoin Distributing for 20 years, he drove school bus for the Stephenson School District and drove truck for Lou's Potato Chips. Robert was an avid Packers fan and in his spare time he loved to be with his kids and grandkids and he enjoyed going to camp and hunting.
Robert is survived by one daughter, Barbara (Eugene) Homan of Crivitz, Wis.; one son, Gerald (Annette) Hanson of Gresham, Oreg.; five grandchildren: Dana, Kurt (Theresa), Charlie (Amber), Sheri (Aaron), and Myla (Dustian); seven great-grandchildren: Lindsey, Justin, Mason, Nora, Conner, Emily, and Ethan; one brother-in-law, Alvin Pearson of Wallace, Mich. and many nieces, nephews and friends from New Care Convalescent Center. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen; seven brothers: Norbert, Red, Byron, Wally, Donald, Glen, Curtis: and two sister's: Ruth and Eunice.
Family and friends may call to the Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home, on Sunday, November 10, 2013. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. until time of service at 4 p.m. Military Honors will be presented by the Military 20 Year Club at 4 p.m. followed by the American Legion Service and then the prayer service with Deacon Vince Beckley officiating.
Burial will be in Glenwood Memorial Gardens in Marinette, Wis.
