Ronald L. Nicklaus, 66, of Marinette, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 14, 2014, at his home. He was born November 9, 1947, in Marinette to Walter and Esther (Krutz) Nicklaus.
Ron attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Marinette High School and the University of Wisconsin-Marinette. He met his wife, Linda, up at the family cabin where he loved to fish, hunt and wander around to visit the neighbors. They were married on October 4, 1969.
Ron retired from Wisconsin Public Service Corp. after 37 years of employment with the company. He enjoyed playing golf and woodworking but continued to demonstrate his belief in work and an orderly life through his attention to lawn care, window washing and other chores around the house. Although Ron didn't like to travel, he did make a few trips with friends that were a highlight of his life; spending time on a houseboat on the Wolf River and visiting South Dakota and Copper Harbor. He also liked to listen to music. Ron was a lifelong member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Marinette.
Ron is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda; two daughters: Laurie Groleau of Menominee and Amy Gallardo of Marinette; one brother, Michael (Patti) Nicklaus of Menominee; one sister, Phyllis (Dave) Makowski, also of Menominee; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call at Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home in Marinette from 12 noon until 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2014. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jon Tesch and the Rev. Frederick Mueller officiating.
Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
