Ruth M. Henschel, 98, of Marinette, Wis., formerly of Menominee, Mich., passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Linden Grove Nursing Home in Menomonee Falls, Wis. The former Ruth Matilda Becker was born on March 31, 1916, in Plymouth, Wis., to the late Adam and Emma (Klingsporn) Becker.
On April 18, 1936 Ruth married Raymond "Doc" Henschel in Elkhart Lake, Wis. Doc preceded her in death on April 1, 1980. Following Doc's death, Ruth became a very active volunteer for the BAMC Auxiliary, and the Menominee Historical Society. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, camping and fishing. Ruth was a very kind and well known person. She was a longtime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church where she was active in the Priscilla circle. Ruth was also a member of the Women's Club and the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her two daughters: Rita (Ray) Lubenow of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Mary (Paul) Tjaden of Milwaukee, Wis.; four grandchildren: David (Julie) Jackson, Julie (Daniel Raab) Jackson, Michael (Rhonda) Tjaden and Peter (Lauri) Tjaden; great-grandchildren: Meghan and Hannah Jackson, Lizzy Jackson, Lauren and Adam Tjaden, Meghan (Hunter) Casey, Erin (Paul) Ball and Brett Tjaden; great-great-grandchild, Madison Casey; sister, Hermina Becker of Menomonee Falls, Wis.; and sister-in-law, Myrtle Henschel of Kiel, Wis. Ruth was preceded in death by her sister, Alice.
Family and friends may call at Emmanuel Lutheran Church on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, after 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 12 p.m. noon with Pastor Lee Goodwin officiating.
Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Anderson Kell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
