Ruth M. Metivier, 80, of Menominee, Mich., passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Brewster Village in Appleton, Wis. The former Ruth Ahearn was born on February 21, 1933, in Menominee, Mich. to the late Cornelius and Margaret (Todish) Ahearn.
On August 20, 1955, Ruth married Darrell Metivier in Menominee, Mich. Darrell preceded her in death on February 18, 1996. Ruth enjoyed gardening, traveling and golfing. She was very passionate about her family, her home and her church. Spending time with her family and grandchildren is what Ruth enjoyed most. Ruth was a very involved member of Resurrection Catholic Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary (Joseph) Markovicz of Spring Lake, Mich.; three sons: Thomas (Barbara) of Appleton, Wis., Michael of Rapid River, Mich. and Timothy (Luisa) of Leavenworth, Kan.; nine grandchildren: Margaret, Amy, Molly, Jill, Michelle, Daniel (Monica), Matthew, Samuel and Mary Katherine; two great-gandchildren: Clara and Molly; brother, Cornelius "Bud" (Marge) Ahearn of Hastings, Mich.; brother-in-law, Paul Payant of West Bend, Wis.; sisters-in-law: Marie Ahearn of Menominee, Mich. and Patricia Metivier of Escanaba, Mich.; several nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her sister, Janet "Mickey" Payant and brother, Dennis Ahearn.
Visitation will take place at Anderson Kell Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 5, 2014, after 4 p.m. The Vigil prayer service will begin at 6:30 p.m. with Deacon Vince Beckley presiding. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, for the repose of the soul of Ruth Metivier on Thursday, February 6, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church with Father Mark McQuesten presiding.
Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
