Shirley Truitt, 77, of Marinette, Wis. died unexpectedly July 3, 2013 in Florida, while staying with her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Tim Fritz. Shirley Marie Truitt was born on February 17, 1936 to the late Carl and Margaret (Bromund) Johnson in her grandfather's home in Ingalls, Mich.
Shirley was a graduate of Stephenson High School. In 1953 Shirley married Stanley "Smokey" Truitt. Shirley worked at many jobs over the years including Emerson Electric, McCrory's and others. She enjoyed spending time in Florida and excelled at sewing, crafts, line dancing, and singing in the choir at church. Shirley's main goal in life was to take care of her children and see them happy. Shirley was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
Survivors include six children: Jerry (Linda) of Vulcan, Mich., Bonnie (the late Joe) Woodbury of Menominee, Mich., Dan, Pam (Tim) Fritz of Florida, Lisa Perket and Mike (Cindy) Baumler, all of Menominee, Mich.; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and five granddogs; two brothers: John (Pat) Johnson, Marinette, Wis. and Robert (Bert) Johnson of Tuscon, Ariz.; two sisters: Marge (Ken) Kurtz of Marinette, Wis. and Linda McInerney of Arizona. Shirley was preceded in death by an infant sister and husband, Smokey Truitt.
Family and friends may call at the Luther Home Chapel in Marinette on Saturday, July 13, 2013, at 1 p.m. where a Memorial Service will be held. Father Jeff Kurtz officiating.
Burial will be in Stephenson Township Cemetery.
Anderson Kell Funeral Home, Menominee, Mich. is assisting the family with arrangements.
