STEPHENSON - With Christmas just two days away, the Stephenson Eagles were in a giving mood Monday as they committed 20 turnovers in a 72-45 loss to Bark River-Harris.

The Broncos used a full-court press throughout the first half to force 15 turnovers.

Those turnovers led to several easy baskets and guided Bark River-Harris to a 38-17 halftime lead.

In the third quarter, the Broncos eased off on defense, but went into an all-out track meet.

Behind Troy Teeple and Kyle Kleiman, Bark River-Harris started the third quarter on a 17-2 run, highlighted by several fast-break baskets and a nifty alley-oop from Teeple to Kleiman, who threw down a powerful dunk.

Poor shooting prevented the Eagles (1-4) from getting anything going on offense.

Stephenson shot just 22 percent in the first half and finished at 28 percent for the game.

"We dug ourselves into a big hole early in the game and never recovered," Stephenson coach Joe Simon said. "It came down too missed shots and too many turnovers."

Kleiman led the Broncos with 19 points, 13 in the second half. Kyle Getchell had 18 points and Teeple added 14, nine coming in the second half.

For the Eagles, Brandon Kau was a force inside and finished with a team-high 19 points. Levi Brock and Connor Cappaert both had seven points.

"I thought Brandon played an exceptional game on both sides for us tonight," Simon said. "It seemed like every time he got the ball, something good happened. We need to get him the ball even more."
