GREEN BAY — Jake McMahon provided a nearly perfect storm for the Marinette Redbird baseball team Wednesday night.

McMahon pitched a complete-game one-hitter, as the Redbirds beat the Green Bay Storm 6-0. The righthander struck out 10 and walked just one. He faced just 29 batters in nine innings.

The Redbirds scored twice in the first inning. Jordan Powers walked, stole second and scored on Pat Wolard’s single. After a walk and a wild pitch, Steve Campbell singled in two runs.

In the fourth inning, a walk to Cody Woods and a single by Powers was followed by Adam Francour’s two-run double. Wolard doubled home Francour.

“We scored early on some timely hits that put Green Bay behind the 8-ball and Jake McMahon’s one-hitter was a gem,” Marinette coach Nick Brukardt said.

The Redbirds, 5-2, begin Wishigan League play on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Pedersen Ball Park against the Channing Railroaders.
