This person will lead our sports team in covering mostly prep and community sports. Strong candidates will possess excellent writing and page layout skills. Some photography also is required. The ability to work under deadline pressure is a must. This person must be organized, enthusiastic, ambitious and a reliable self-starter. Knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop are helpful. A bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field and/or sports reporting experience is required. The candidate will be equally adept at covering a sporting event, compiling sports agate and taking a call from a coach and writing up a game summary. The candidate will work closely with our sports writer - they both will cover games, take phone calls and design pages.
