The Brix Family Reunion was held at Red Arrow Park Aug. 21. Menekaunee is where Josephine (Girard) and Frank Louis Brix raised their 11 children: Frank Joseph, Phyllis (Brix LaMack Hayes); Robert, Vernon “Sonny,” Gerald, Myril, Marjorie (Brix Pettey Hyer), Laverne “Dolly” (Brix Nelson), Maryette (Brix Kuehnau), Dorothy (Brix Cambray), and Shirley (Brix Swanson).

Frank’s father, Engelbert Brix, came to America from Bavaria, Germany, on the ship Bremerhaven Sept. 7, 1853, at the age of 18 with his parents Baptiste “John” Brix, 48, his mother Maria, 49, and his sister Anna, 14.

Mabel Brix, 94, the surviving spouse of Vernon Brix was honored with a corsage of miniature red roses. The reunion was attended by 60 relatives. Food was catered by Jack’s Fresh Market, and leftovers were shared with the Rainbow House.

Coordinators of the event were Karen (Thornton) Bookter, Holly Brix, Sharon (Brix) Powilaites, Jane Swanson and Judy (Brix) Williams.
