The M&M Area Photo Club has been doing virtual meetings every Thursday to continue communication, learning and just keep social contact. This week will be its 48th meeting using Google Meet that allows the group to share screens, photos, see all our members visually and allows Brian Hartnell to teach whatever the photo community wants to learn. Hartnell, a professional photographer since 1971 and having taught as an adjunct instructor for NWTC photo/computer classes since 1985, is a wealth of information that is easily shared within this medium.
Being virtual allows the group to bring in anyone from anywhere in the U.S. to attend the group. Several former members who have physically moved out of the area still join in. The group has people attending from North Carolina, Indiana, Kentucky, Green Bay, Crivitz, Menominee, Marinette, Peshtigo, Ripon, Algoma, and Muskego. Anyone can attend the one- to two-hour sessions by logging in. Each month the group challenges each other to get out and take images of special topics to then display, talk about and post to the club’s Facebook site.
Three of the other Thursdays the group talks about topics of interest to the club members. Frequently Hartnell puts on talks about all things photographic to inform everyone about: New equipment, use of a camera technique, or share information about software to use and how to use it. There is a ton of diversity in camera manufacturers represented and experience of users, so there is no limit to what the group can do to help further everyone’s knowledge.
