MENOMINEE—The Menominee American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) Unit 146 held its regular scheduled meeting May 11 at the Legion Post.

At the meeting April 13, the group discussed the 1922 and 1927 historical booklets donated by Ron Nerat to the Post. Also, a portion of U.S. 41 has been named in memory of Samuel R. Costello, Menominee, and Koren War veteran.

Julie Erickson talked about UPAA District Spring Meeting held in Gladstone recently. Jane Raygo talked about the placement of American Flags for veterans, and flowers in Potter’s Field, Riverside Cemetery, Menominee.

Unit 146 had an election of officers, and membership approved the following members for 2021-22: Judy Pier, president; Val Hallam, vice president; Alyssa Higley, secretary; Donna Venhaus-Lewis, treasurer; Patty Violet, chaplain; Connie Kewley, historian; Kirsti Modschiedler, Sergeant at Arms; and the executive committee will include: Julie Hendrick, Lynn Paris and Donna Venhaus-Lewis. The installation of officers will be Tuesday.

Upcoming events for the group include: June 8: ALA Meeting and Installation of Officers at 6:30 p.m.; June 11-12: U.P. Summer Convention, Iron Mountain, Mich.; July 8-11: Department Summer Convention, Kewadin Casino, Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.
