MENOMINEE—The M&M Area Community Foundation (MMACF) recently awarded grants during their Summer Grant Cycle.

Funding was provided by the following endowments held at the MMACF:

Women’s Giving Circle Restricted Endowment Fund

Æ Bark River-Harris Schools will use their award to establish a “Literary Ladies” book club. The grant funding will be used to purchase books for three specific book clubs: upper elementary, junior high and high school. Each club will meet 4 to 6 times throughout the coming school year to discuss the books.

Æ Funding awarded to Rainbow House Domestic Abuse Center will be used to purchase personal hygiene items for women and girls.

Æ St. Joseph Conference Marinette of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was awarded a grant to provide basic needs to female-led households.

Youth Field of Interest Fund

Æ The City of Menominee Housing Commission will use grant dollars towards the purchase of playground upgrades at their North Hills complex.

Æ First-time grant recipient JW Ranch will host youth groups at the ranch in order to bring equine encounters to those who would normally not have the opportunity. Group participants will experience how to care for horses and donkeys, and will have an opportunity to ride the animals.

Æ Two grants were awarded to the Menominee County Intermediate School District. The first grant will be used to purchase books for children enrolled in the Marinette and Menominee Counties Imagination Library Program. The second award will purchase vape detectors to be placed in area schools.

Æ Funding awarded to the Peshtigo High School girls’ soccer team will purchase uniforms, soccer balls, cones and nets, and will provide transportation costs to games and referee fees.

Æ Peter Piper Kiddie Nurseries Daycare will use their grant dollars to purchase sensory walls, which will help develop children’s fine motor skills and will encourage them to think more logically.

Æ The grant awarded to the River Cities Community Pool Association will be used to purchase equipment needed for swim lessons such as kickboards, dive toys, noodles, flippers and floating backpacks. The grant will also support their Kids Triathlon, which promotes physical activities and healthy habits.

Æ St. Joseph Conference Marinette of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was awarded a grant for their Back 2 School Program, which provides backpacks filled with basic needs items for area children.
