MARINETTE — St. Thomas Aquinas Academy’s 41st Annual Auction will take place March 26 in the high school gym. Each year, hundreds of friends, family, alumni and members of the community come and spend the day bidding, buying, visiting with friends and sampling dishes from the food booths. This is the largest fundraiser each year for the Academy and is open to the public.
Volunteers have been gathering donations, big and small, from businesses and individuals for the live and silent auctions and the day will move under the direction of Yoap & Yoap Auction Services.
The Academy is excited to be able to offer a half cow and 15 cubic foot freezer combo, compliments of the Finger Family Farm and Drees Electric. New this year is a flying adventure which includes a scenic 2-hour flight for two people to one of several destinations. The live auction always boasts several special experiences, including travel, dinners, quiet getaways and fun parties. Other special items include Green Bay Packer tickets, a signed football from Allen Lazard, specialized services, outdoor adventure, appliances and electronics.
The silent auction areas include the Tots to Teens booth, the women’s booth, men’s booth, and the Ppntry for unique items that include gift baskets, hand quilted items, tools, spa gifts, artwork and delicious home made goods. New this year will be an expanded bucket raffle section which will feature a little bit of everything.
A Spring Raffle sponsored by Thielen Funeral Home is being held in conjunction with the auction. Raffle tickets are $20 each or 6 for $100 and all proceeds will benefit the Tuition Assistance fund. First prize is $1,000, second prize is $500, and third prize is $250. All prizes will be awarded by check. The drawing will be held at the end of the 2 nd live auction segment. The winners do not have to be present to win. Tickets are available at both campuses.
The auction committee is chaired by Kathy Denby.
“This event is our school’s largest fundraiser each year and would not be possible without the dedication of the many volunteers to help it all come together,” Denby said. “The proceeds from the auction support a enhanced technology for all students and help to fund tuition assistance for families.”
Admission is free. Doors will open at 11 a.m. For those who want to bid, auction booklets, complete with listings of all live auction items, and a bidding number will be available for $10 at the door. Food and beverages will be sold. The live auction starts at 12:30 p.m.
The committee is still accepting donations, large and small for the event. For more information, people can contact the high school office at 715-735-7481 or they can drop items off at the office, 1200 Main St., Marinette.
