Carol Frances Hoida, 84, of 18th Ave., Menominee, Mich., died on Saturday, March 14, 2020. Carol was born on Oct. 30, 1935, in Stephenson, Mich., to the late Myrtle (Pecotte) and Herbert W. Corey.
Carol graduated from Stephenson High School in 1953 and from Western Michigan University in 1955. On June 9, 1956, Carol married W. Roger Hoida in Stephenson, and soon followed two wonderful daughters who brought them much joy as they grew up, married and expanded their families. Throughout her life, family was always Carol’s priority and the guiding light in her life. Carol taught school in Battle Creek, Mich., for two years and in 1957 moved to Menominee. In 1958, she attended Michigan State University and became certified as a preschool teacher. With the help of Rev. Ranck and the First Presbyterian Church, she established a nursery school program at the church. Carol taught nursery school there for 25 years. She then pursued a career as a cosmetologist for 10 years.
Carol enjoyed gardening, golf, cards, Mahjongg, her travels to Europe, Australia, Alaska and in later years, traveling around the U.S.A. The past 25 years, Carol spent her winters in Marco Island, Fla. There, she made her home away from home. She enjoyed the ocean, beautiful sunsets, and spending time with wonderful friends. Carol was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Menominee, Menominee Women’s Club, North Shore Golf Club, Menominee Historical Society and the Menominee Fishing Museum.
