On Sunday, Sept. 6, 2020, after a long battle with several infections, our father, Charles “Chuck” Nord, was called to Heaven. He was born Oct. 18, 1933 to Paul and Lillian Nord in Monroeville, Ind. He graduated from Monroeville High School and married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Sprague. They were married on Oct. 9, 1954.
Chuck served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He lived in Maryland and Kentucky before moving to Marinette, Wis., in 1973. He worked at Marinette Marine Corp. as their chief financial officer for many years before taking the same position with R.W. Fernstrum & Co. of Menominee from which he retired. Chuck and Shirley enjoyed many years of travel, both locally on his sailboat and internationally during his years in the military. He enjoyed skiing, golfing, sailing and hunting. He always enjoyed a good joke and was never at a loss to tell one. He was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Marinette.
Chuck is survived by Shirley, his wife of 65 years; two sons and their wives: Larry and Gloria of Porterfield, Wis., and Jon and Brenda of Marinette. He is further survived by one grandchild; five step-grandchildren; twelve step-great-grandchildren; two brothers; a sister; and his beloved dog, Scooter.
Due to current public health concerns, a private service for family and close friends will be held at Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home.
Burial with Military Honors will be made in Riverside Cemetery, Menominee, Mich.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Chuck’s name may be made to the Menominee Animal Shelter as that was his favorite charity.
