Dale Edward Neumann, 89, Marinette, Wis., passed away peacefully on November 29, 2020, at The Cottages in Marinette. Dale was born in Green Bay on March 29, 1931, to the late Edward and Gladys (Thompson) Neumann. Dale grew up in Marinette and was a 1949 graduate of Marinette High School. He enlisted in the Navy in 1950 and was honorably discharged in 1953. Upon returning to Marinette, Dale met his future wife, Shirley Ann Hollis of Menominee Mich. They were married in February of 1955 and spent the next 61 years together until her passing on July 19, 2016.
In 1967 Dale and his family returned to Marinette (from Milwaukee) when he took a job at Scott Paper Company in the quality control department. He held many positions at Scott over the years and was especially proud of his contribution in bringing the groundbreaking VIVA paper machine online. He was also proud to have worked with and supervised so many dedicated men and women at Scott until his retirement in 1994.Some of the things Dales loved to do throughout his life include bowling, fishing with his grandchildren, golf, and travel. He especially enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. There were few card games that Dale did not play well. He also enjoyed playing dominos, doing jigsaw puzzles, gardening, and delivering meals on wheels. He was also a long-time member of the Elk’s Club and the Menominee American Legion Post.
Dale is survived by his three children: Corby (Robin) of Orland Park, Ill., Stephen (Teri) of Eau Claire, Wis., and Lisa (David) Dzurick of Porterfield, Wis. He is also survived by two sisters: Beverly Pfankuch of Menominee, Mich and Sandra Clements of Omaha, Neb. and is also survived by three grandchildren: Erica, Ethan and Britlyn and three great-grandchildren: Wesley, Stella, and Miles as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, sister Jean Cullen and his faithful cat, Sami.
A family graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Menominee. Please join the family for a celebration of Dale’s life at the Marinette Elks Club on Saturday, June 19, 2021 (please note date) from 12 noon until 3 p.m. Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home is assisting the family.
Dale was a good man and will be missed by many.
