MARILYNN E. HOHENEDER

Marilynn E. Hoheneder, 88 of Menominee, MI passed away on Friday November 4, 2022 at Aurora Medical Center - Bay Area in Marinette, WI. The former Marilynn E. Johnson was born on January 12, 1934 in Menominee, MI to Vernon and Edna (Krei) Johnson.

Marilynn was a 1952 graduate of Marinette High School. Following graduation from high school, Marilynn worked at Scott Paper until she married John Hoheneder Jr. on June 20, 1959 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Greenwoods. John joined the Army in 1959 and they moved to Texas and then Milwaukee. In 1967 they moved to Marinette and ran J&M Bar. Marilynn was the worker bee and John was the bookkeeper, bouncer and PR guy. Marilynn was always behind the bar tending to her customers. They owned and operated other places too such as Big John’s Place, Bourbon Street, Olde Store Tap and the Starlite to mention a few. John preceded Marilynn in death on September 12, 1999.

Following John’s death, Marilynn worked at the Little River Country Club, North Shore Golf Club, American Legion and Moose Lodge. The saddest part of taking care of all her customers is that she developed Pulmonary Fibrosis and COPD after never smoking a cigarette in her life.

Marilynn loved to cook, bake and crochet. She was famous for her chocolate chip cookies, deviled eggs, chicken dumpling soup and pork & kraut. We will miss all the things she made. Marilynn was always willing to help with things you needed done. There are many afghans out there made by Marilynn. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marinette for over 50 years.

Survivors include her 3 children: Randy (Lori) Hoheneder, John Hoheneder III, and Cindy (Dave) Schacht; 6 grandchildren: Kari (Brandon) Hoheneder and her children: Blake and Dayton; Audrey (Doug) Short and her children: Jocelyn, Keegan and Natalie; Randy Lee (Sparkle) Hoheneder; Heather (Chris) Hoheneder and her children: McKenna and Aubree; Brett Schacht and Adam Schacht; brother in law: Roger (Judy) Hoheneder; nieces and nephews.

Marilynn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother: Ken Johnson; and 2 sisters: Phyllis McGrath and Eunice Pickl.

Visitation for Marilynn will be held at TRINITY EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH in Marinette on Thursday November 10, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until time of Funeral Service at 4:00 p.m. with Reverend Paul Cole presiding. Burial will be in Mellen Township Cemetery. THE CADIEU FUNERAL HOME is assisting the Hoheneder family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Marilynn’s memory to Emergency Rescue Squad or Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
