Ronald "Red" L. Smith

RONALD “RED” L. SMITH

Ronald “Red” L. Smith, 88, formerly of Menominee

MI., passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022,

with his daughter by his side

at the Cottages. He was born

on March 27, 1934, to the

late Charles and Margaret

(Bauer) Smith in Menominee.

On September 1, 1956, Ron

married Joan Zolmierski in

Menominee, MI; she preceded

him in death on October 8,

2008. He took great pride in

all he did. He had worked as

a Mason, completing work on Menominee High

School, and Lambeau Field. After retirement, he

had a business selling cement lawn ornaments.

He was known for his love of gardening, especially

selling his organic garlic. And he always had one

of his cats snuggled in his lap. He was “one of a

kind” and will leave a huge void for all who loved

him! His famous parting words “if you can’t be

good, be careful.”

Ron is survived by his son, Kevin Smith;

daughters: Rhonda Philibeck and Brenda

Schweiger; granddaughters: Melissa Philibeck

and Jennifer Philibeck; great-grandchildren:

Jaxson and Lylah Joan; and his best friend, Bettie

Rabideau. In addition to his parents and wife,

Joan, he was preceded in death by eight siblings.

A Memorial Service will be held in the spring in

his garden. Burial will be in Birch Creek Cemetery.
