Ervin “Blackie” Hood, 93, Stephenson, passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers, Mich., Blackie was born Aug. 13, 1927, in Stephenson to the late Frank and Bessie (Gagnau) Hood. He proudly served his Country in the United States Marine Corps. Blackie married the former Angeline Majkrzak on June 19, 1954, at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Stephenson. He owned and operated Skogmos Store in Stephenson for 31 years and also owned and operated Blackie’s Bar for 5 years. He enjoyed doing yard work, hunting and fishing. Blackie was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife: Angie of Stephenson; two children: Deborah (Tom) Warren of Escanaba, Mich., and Tom (Audrey) Hood of Stephenson; three grandchildren: Matt (Heather) Warren of Kalamazoo, Mich., Brian (Sara) Warren of Plainwell, Mich., and Mandy Kakuk of Stephenson, Mich.; four great-grandchildren; and one sister: Joyce Schetter of Chicago, Ill. Blackie was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be held on Friday June 4, 2021, at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until time of Military Rites at Noon. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Precious Blood Catholic Church with Father Don Loskot presiding. Burial will follow in Stephenson Township Cemetery.
