Francis “Butz” Keller, 89, Menominee, Mich., passed away on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2021. He was born on March 22, 1932, to the late Robert and Gertrude Keller.
Butz completed his education in Menominee and married the late Pieterdina “Dini” de Jonge on Dec. 1, 1963. Butz honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War and later went on to work and eventually retire, from the City of Menominee Street & Sewer Department.
Butz loved to fish and watch his beloved children, grandchildren and great-grandchild play sports. He also loved gardening and canning his renowned pickles. He also enjoyed watching his favorite Detroit sports teams, Lions, Tigers and Red Wings, on TV.
Butz is survived by his daughters: Marnie Keller and Heidi Keller, both of Menominee; one son: Robert (Francesca) Keller of Chesterfield, Mich.; four grandchildren: Taylor Truesdell-Keller, Madison Monosso, Robert Keller Jr. and Felicia Keller; one great-grandson: Aiden Cooper; one sister: Dorothy Van Hemelryk; and other family members and friends. In addition to his parents, Butz was preceded in death by one brother: Robert Keller; three brothers-in-law: James “Hammer” Van Hemelryk, Dick de Jonge and Sjoerd Bosgraaf; four sisters-in-law: Jetske de Jonge, Laura de Jonge, Pieterdina de Jonge (wife Dini’s namesake) and Emma de Jonge; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Derk and Berendina (van Dellen) de Jonge.
In honoring Butz’s wishes, private services will be held.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Menominee.
