Georgieana Veriha, 93, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Sun Valley Homes II in Marinette where she had been a resident since 2012. Georgieana was born April 17, 1928, in Manitowoc, Wis., to Richard and Stella Kaufman. As a child, she lived in Loomis, Wis., and attended Loomis School before moving to Marinette, where she graduated from Marinette High School. She married Stanley Veriha Nov. 23, 1946. The couple resided in the McAllister area for 30 years before moving to Marinette. Before moving into assisted living, Georgieana was active at Zion Lutheran Church where she volunteered for Sewing For Missions and helped organize funeral lunches. Prior to retiring, Georgieana was employed as a cook at Schloegel’s restaurant in Marinette.
Georgieana was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her daughter-in-law, Donna; and special friend, R. Bob Nygren. Surviving are a son, Richard, of Loomis; a daughter, Diane (Steven) Bannow, of Sheboygan; Grandchildren, Scott Veriha, Carolynne (Don Hoffman) Veriha, Richard A. (Sarah) Veriha, Zachary (Tracy) Bannow and Nathan (Erin Block) Bannow; and great-grandchildren, Richie and Lexi Veriha, Lauren and Sasha Bannow.
A private graveside ceremony will be held with burial at Forest Home Cemetery in Marinette. Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home is assisting the family.
