Our beloved father, grandfather, and friend, Gerald Ray Jones Sr., passed away peacefully with family at his side on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2020, at the age of 72. Gerry was born in Menominee, Mich., in 1947.
His close bond with his parents led him to return to Menominee after graduating from Michigan Technological University with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Gerry had many fond memories of growing up in the U.P. and raising his children here, camping, fishing, swimming and enjoying the outdoors together. He was an avid deer hunter, and he had been looking forward to spending time at camp this fall with the boys. One of the highlights of Gerry’s life was his marriage to Toni, his high school sweetheart. Gerry and Toni enjoyed designing and building their own home together on the bay, a project that he had dreamed of his whole life. They filled their home with laughter and love, cooking and entertaining. Gerry’s deep love and devotion to Toni is one of his greatest legacies. He was also very proud of his children and grandchildren, and he loved just watching them grow up and be happy. He had a great sense of humor, and his stories, smiles, and laughter will be greatly missed.
Gerry will be lovingly remembered by his children: Gerry (Beth), Jennifer and Trisha (Chris); grandchildren: Talbot, Allie, Ava, Sawyer, Aubree and Emma; stepchildren: Brad (Betina), Aaron and Cristin (Al); close family friends: Brian (Jodie), Brooke, Brock and Brennan; two favorite kitties: Rosey and Nosey; and numerous other family and friends. He is now joyfully reunited with the love of his life, Toni, who preceded him in death, along with his beloved parents, Raymond and Viola.
A celebration of Gerry’s life will take place on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2020, from 2 to 4 p.m., at Cadieu Funeral Home. Due to continued health concerns, we ask that masks be worn, social distancing observed, and please feel free to dress comfortably.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Gerry’s name. Any expressions of sympathy and kindness can be directed to a family member. His family would like to thank the staff at Aurora Baycare, St. Luke’s, and Zilber Family Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care.
