Gladys E. Johnson, 88, Marinette, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021, at Rennes East. She was born on October 16, 1932, to the late Howard and Esther (Gove) Race in Marinette and graduated from Marinette High School in 1950. She went on to the Teacher’s College for a year. On June 9, 1951, Gladys married Thomas L. Johnson in Marinette. He preceded her in death on October 14, 2001. She was a member of Resurrection Parish. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, and was an avid reader. Her most important treasure was her family.
Gladys is survived by sons: Richard Johnson of Oshkosh and Russell Johnson of Marinette; daughters: Sherry (Stephen) Berman of Marinette, Debra (Dennis) Wesenberg of Oshkosh, and Laura (Gary) McMahon of Marinette; brother: Howard “Norm” (Barb) Race; eight grandchildren: Seth (Katie) Berman, Ethan (Shawn) Berman, Gwen (Ray) Hartkopf, Maddie (fiancé, Shreya Patnaik) Berman, Jake (Kalin) Wesenberg, Max Wesenberg, Hannah McMahon, and Emilee McMahon; eleven great grandchildren: Lilliana, Grant, Devon, Landen, Raelyn, Cael, Diya, Ti, Adi, Finn, and Leo; and one great-granddaughter on the way. In addition to her parents and husband, Tom, she was preceded in death by a daughter: Linda Johnson.
As per Gladys’ wishes, no services will be held. Thielen Funeral Home is assisting the family. Burial will be in Glenwood Memorial Gardens.
