Mary Felicia (Uecke) Boehm

To Mary Felicia (Uecke) Boehm, there was nothing more dear in her life than family and friends. Sadly, on Jan. 9, 2022, after a long battle with COPD, she passed away at the age of 70 in the arms of those whom she held most closely─her husband and children.

Mary was born on Jul. 30, 1951, in Menominee, MI. She learned a love of family at an early age from her parents; Joseph Lawrence and Doris Lucille (Conant) Uecke growing up in Marinette with her brother Robert. She attended Marinette Catholic Central High School and after graduating in 1969, felt a calling to help others. Mary trained at Northeast Wisconsin Technical Institute to become an LPN, and eventually moved back home to Marinette. After devoting many years as a nurse at Luther Home, Mary would eventually decide on a career change. She went back to school to earn her early education teaching certificate, specializing in special needs education. Mary would work for over 20 years in the Marinette School District, spreading her love and sharing life long bonds with students and her co-workers.

Mary believed that family wasn’t just an important thing, it was everything. She was a season ticket holder to every band/choir concert, baseball game, theater production or anything else that her children and grandchildren were involved in. No distance was too far for her to travel to show her love and support.

Mary had a heart for nature and animals, from many pets to feeding birds and chipmunks. She loved crafting, quilting and sewing and made many blankets and afghans for friends and family. One of the true joys in her life was music. Mary played trumpet, guitar and piano. When not listening to The Statler Brothers and gospel music, she was singing. Whether in the church choir, a folk trio with husband Ed and friend Kathy Langill, or making barbershop music with the Menominee River Chorus, her voice was often raised in song.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her partner in harmony for over 40 years; Ed, her five children and their families: Patrick “Pat” Boehm, his wife; Mariah and their two children; Norah and Eli, Kristopher “Topher” Zimmerman, his wife; Robyn and their two children; Bryan and Aaron, Sarah “Sadie” (Zimmerman) Koenig, her husband; Anthony and their two children; Statler and Guthrie, Matthew “Bubba” Zimmerman and Jason “Bun” Boehm. She is also survived by her brother; Robert (Christine) Uecke as well as special friends Joey Stepniak, Stacey “Magoo” Langer and Sarah Bezio. The family would like to especially thank the ICU nursing staff at the Aurora Medical Center─Bay Area for their care and compassion.

A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, at HANSEN-ONION-MARTELL FUNERAL HOME, with a memorial service and social gathering to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to the future Mary Boehm Memorial Music Scholarship.
