Fred C. Tessmer, 75, of Athelstane, Wis., passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on Thursday July 2, 2020, at his home. He was born in Chicago, Ill., on Aug. 7, 1944.
Fred was united in marriage to Nancy Traylor on Dec. 18, 1966. Fred and Nancy built and operated the Athelstane Gas & Bait Shop for 18 years. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting, fishing and spending time at their cabin in Canada as well as camping many years in the Boundary Waters. He loved traveling and most importantly spending time with his grandchildren.
Fred is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy; his two sons: Frederick “Rick” (Brian Baker) Tessmer Jr. and William “Bill” (Stacey) Tessmer; six grandchildren: Hillary (Victor) Larson, Beth Tessmer, Patrick Thelen, Karsen Thelen, Karlee Tessmer and Chloe Tessmer; two sisters: Roberta and Nancy; and further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2020, in the Forest Home Cemetery in Athelstane. Immediately following the graveside service there will be a luncheon/gathering at Nancy’s home.
