Geneva Olson

Geneva Olson, 92, formerly of Marinette, Wis.,  passed away Monday, July 6, 2020, at the Odd Fellow Home in Green Bay. She was born April 22, 1928, in Marinette to Frank and Dallice (Martin) Hill.

Geneva met and married Arnold R. Olson in Chicago in 1948 while he was assigned to the Great Lakes Naval Station. Because of Arnold’s Naval and later Civil Service career with the Bureau of Ships, Geneva and family moved frequently. She was known for reassembling a household after moving nearly every two years. They had resided in Marinette; Sebewaing, Mich.; Sturgeon Bay, Wis.; and then returned to Marinette. All of their children were born while serving at Navy duty stations around the country. While residing in Sturgeon Bay, Geneva joined the Rebekah Lodge and began a long and active association with that benevolent organization. After returning to Marinette, she served as Noble Grand of the Colfax Rebekah Lodge and went on to hold leadership offices, including state president, of the Wisconsin Rebekah Assembly. Geneva traveled the state for the Rebekahs and attended an international convention in Canada. She was also active in women’s auxiliaries of the Sebewaing VFW Post and Loomis American Legion and had been a member of United Methodist churches where she resided. Geneva loved going to rummage sales and was an avid antique buyer and seller. She held annual yard sales at her home on Highway 180 in Marinette.

Geneva is survived by a daughter, Kathrina Olson of Bettendorf, Iowa; two sons: Martin Olson of Marinette and daughter-in-law, Georgia Olson, and Robert Olson of Whitewater, Wis.; a sister, Beatrice Dietrich of Oconto Falls; and a brother, Ray Hill of Oshkosh. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers: Gerald and Ralph Hill; and sisters: Olive Petcka and Ruth Rose.

A private family interment will be made at Tabor Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Wagner.

Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home is assisting the family.
