Harriet Esther Mielke, 96, of Marinette, Wis., passed away on Friday, July 3, 2020, at the Luther Home in Marinette. The former Harriet Esther Johnson was born on July 17, 1923, in Menominee, Mich., to the late John and Esther (Newlin) Johnson.  

    Harriet was a graduate of Menominee High School class of 1942. During the war, Harriet worked at the glove factory. On Feb. 9, 1946, Harriet married Edward Mielke and together they celebrated 60 years of marriage. Edward preceded Harriet in death on Oct. 7, 2006. Harriet enjoyed hosting parties at her home.  Her greatest joy was her family and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was a wonderful mother. Harriet was a longtime member of the Community Covenant Church.

    Survivors include her two daughters:  Sharon (Gerald) Kopish and Donna Clark; four grandchildren:  Jeff (Mitzi) Clark, Lisa (Mike) Lijewski, Nicole Papak and John (Claire) Kopish; four great-grandchildren: Thor Papak, Griffin Lijewski, Larson Clark and Katherine Kopish; sister,  Lorraine Wendt; sisters-in-law: Joyce Johnson and Ruth Mielke; and many nieces and nephews. Harriet was preceded in death by her sister, Doris Costello.

    Private family services will be held.  

    Burial will be in the Mellen Township Cemetery.  

    The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Luther Home for the kindness and excellent care given to Harriet throughout the years.
