John R. Menza, 66, of Daggett, Mich., passed away at Roubal Care and Rehab Center in Stephenson, Mich., on Wednesday, July 15, 2020. He was born April 24, 1954, in Daggett to the late Walter and Lillian (Anderla) Menza.
John farmed with his family for many years. John also worked at the Men-O-Mee Activity Center in Hermansville, Mich., and at the Goodwill Work Center in Carney, Mich., for many years until his retirement in 2008. He was active in the Special Olympics where he won some medals. John enjoyed Miller 64 time, a good walleye fish fry, hunting and going to camp. He further enjoyed playing cards, watching the Green Bay Packers and riding ATV’s. John was proud to achieve his life goal of going to Mount Rushmore in 2006. He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church where he enjoyed going to mass.
John is survived by his sisters: Marie Menza of Marinette, Wis., Karen Menza of Menominee, Mich. and June (Jim) Manning of Wallace, Mich.; brother, Richard Menza of Daggett; niece Jill (Jason) Kakuk; two nephews: Eric (Kelly) Menza and Aaron (Steve) Menza; and great nieces and nephews: Lilliana, Soren, Hayden and Quinn. John was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tom Menza.
Visitation for John will be on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for John at 11 a.m. at Precious Blood Catholic Church with Father Edward Baafi presiding. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, anyone who attends is asked to wear a mask.
