Thomas F. Dory

Thomas F. Dory, 84, of Marinette, WI passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee. He was born on October 15, 1937, to the late Frank and Dorothy (Cook) Dory in Marinette. He graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes in 1955. Out of high school he worked for 1 year at Red & Ed’s Supper Club as a 2nd cook and then went on to proudly serve his country for four years (1956-1960) in the Navy as an Apprentice Inspector working on ejection seats. He served an additional 2 years as a Naval Reservist. Following service, he began working at Scott Paper Co. in 1961 where he served 33 years before retiring in 1994. On February 3, 1968, Tom married Carol Jean Bailey at Sacred Heart Church. He was a member of Holy Family Parish.

He enjoyed many things including gardening, fishing, duck, and deer hunting. He was a huge fan of the Green Bay Packers and rarely missed watching a game. His true passion was his love of Bluegrass music and he shared that love by using his talents as a singer and guitar player in his band “The Blue Water Drifters.” He even dabbled in writing a few songs of his own.

Tom is survived by his wife, Carol Dory of Marinette; son, Travis Dory of Menominee; daughter Laura (Gordon) Hulce of Marinette; brother, Frank Dory of Hayden, ID; sisters, Monica Spaude of DePere, WI and Pat (Richard) Ackerman of Oak Creek, WI; sister-in-law Janet Dory of Coeur d’ Alene, ID and two grandchildren, Alison and Logan Hulce. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Henry, sister-in-law, Joan Dory and brother-in-law, Loren Spaude.

Visitation will be held at HOLY FAMILY PARISH – OUR LADY OF LOURDES CHURCH on Friday, July 8 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Celestine Byekwaso officiating. Entombment will be in Forest Home Mausoleum. THIELEN FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family.
