Wayne D. Williams, 77, of Marinette, passed away at his home on Thursday, June 10, 2021. He was born July 20, 1943 in Marinette to Orland and Florence (Anderson) Williams.
Except for his years spent in the Navy, Wayne was a lifelong area resident. He joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and fulfilled the Navy promise of getting to see the world. Wayne loved his years in the Navy and as an excellent athlete had been designated the ship’s swimmer. He returned to Marinette to marry the former Darlene Pecor on December 12, 1964. He was employed as a foreman at Marinette Marine Corp. and later worked at Menominee Boiler Works.
Wayne was a very family oriented man and made his wife, daughter and later granddaughter, the center of his world. He also enjoyed woodworking and cabinetmaking for his home. Over the years Wayne built several ice boats and had actively sailed with local ice boating groups.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Darlene; their daughter, Crystal Williams; his granddaughter, Sabrina Svoboda; and brothers: Gary, Michael and David. He was preceded in death by a brother, Roger; and a sister, Mary Ann Lehman.
In keeping with his requests, no formal service will be held with the wish that the happier days of life be kept as a memorial to Wayne.
Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home is assisting the family.
