Lloyd Fire

Firefighters respond to a fire Wednesday morning at the Lloyd House Apartments in Menominee. Residents, shown, were evacuated from the building. A pickup truck started on fire in the underground garage.

MENOMINEE—A fire broke out early Wednesday morning at the Lloyd House Apartments on 1st Street.

According to Chief Mark Peterson, the fire department was dispatched at 1:21 a.m., and firefighters remained on the scene until 5:06 a.m. Capt. Mike Maas said a vehicle in the lower parking garage caught fire, and the smoke from the vehicle fire filled the apartment building.

Peterson said the building was evacuated. One resident was transported to Aurora Medical Center—Bay Area to be treated for smoke inhalation. One firefighter was also sent to the hospital for treatment.
