MENOMINEE—The M&M Area Community Foundation (MMACF), a nonprofit endowment organization that serves Marinette and Menominee counties, announced Thursday that it recently awarded grants to local organizations during its Summer Grant Cycle.

With grants from the Women’s Giving Circle Restricted Endowment Fund, the Bark River-Harris Schools will establish and purchase books for a “Literary Ladies” book club, the Rainbow House Domestic Abuse Center will purchase female personal hygiene items and the St. Joseph Conference Marinette of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul will provide basic needs to female-led households, according to the foundation’s press release.

MMACF also distributed grants from the Youth Field of Interest Fund to the City of Menominee Housing Commission, JW Ranch, the Menominee County Intermediate School District, the Peshtigo High School girl’s soccer team, Peter Piper Kiddie Nurseries Daycare, the River Cities Community Pool Association and the St. Joseph Conference Marinette of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. The recipients will use their grants for endeavors such as upgrading a playground, purchasing soccer and swim lesson equipment and teaching youth how to care for horses and donkeys.
