MADISON, Wis. — State Rep. John Nygren (R-Marinette) released the following statement in response to his reappointment as Assembly Co-Chair of the Joint Committee on Finance:

“I am honored to be reappointed as Co-Chair of the Joint Committee on Finance,”Nygren said. “There is no question the next budget will be more difficult due to the pandemic, economic downturn, and Governor Evers’ tax-and-spend agenda. I appreciate Speaker Vos’ continued trust in my leadership and I look forward to working with my colleagues and Co-Chair Senator Marklein to pass a fiscally responsible budget that prioritizes taxpayers.”

Nygren was elected to the Assembly in 2006 and appointed to the Joint Committee on Finance in 2011. He has served as Co-Chair since 2013 and is the 38th State Representative to hold this appointment. The 2021 session will mark his fifth session as Co-Chair, making him the longest serving Assembly Co-Chair in the Committee’s 109-year history.
