ESCANABA—Two people were arrested Friday night after a chase that started in Escanaba and ended on the Interstate Bridge.

The Delta County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies attempted to stop a vehicle at about 8:20 p.m. (Eastern time) on South Lincoln Road in Escanaba. The suspect vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit ensued, according to a report.

While pursuing the vehicle, the front seat passenger began throwing objects out of the window in attempt to disable the pursuing vehicles, the report states.

The pursuit entered Menominee County where officers successfully deployed “Stop Sticks.” The driver of the vehicle continued traveling southbound on three tires entering the City of Menominee. The pursuit then entered onto the Interstate Bridge where the driver lost control and crashed, according to the report.

The driver, a 23-year-old Green Bay man, and the passenger, an 18-year-old Green Bay woman, were both taken into custody. The driver is charged with fleeing and eluding, possession of methamphetamine, among other charges. The female is charged with two counts of obstructing justice and possession of methamphetamine. Both subjects are currently lodged in the Delta County Correctional Facility.
