GROVER — Marinette County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal, three-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and two pickup trucks at 1 p.m., Saturday at County B and Hartwig Road in the Town of Grover.
Verlon Voelker, 73, Town of Grover, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marinette County Medical Examiner.
Voelker, who was driving a motorcycle westbound on County B, was struck from behind by a pickup truck driven by a 20-year-old Pehstigo man, while he was trying to turn onto Hartwig Road. The impact pushed the Voelker and his motorcycle into the path of an eastbound pickup truck, which was driven by an 84-year-old Marinette man. The eastbound pickup truck ran over Voelker.
The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Peshtigo Police Department, the Grover/ Porterfield Fire Department, Aurora Bay Area Paramedics, the Emergency Rescue Squad and the Marinette County Medical Examiner.
The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office. This is the second traffic fatality in Marinette County this year.
