“At the recent Board of Public Works meeting, there was some angry discussion regarding property flooding in the Menekaunee area, with demands that the City of Marinette do something about it. While empathetic to the constant basement pumping and yard damage, we need to also recognize the fact that the reason for persistent flooding is the very high water table, which along with the high water level in the bay, prevents natural downhill drainage.
“I believe that even with significant pumping by the city, which may temporarily drop the immediate water table a bit, there will be continued problems. Anger focused on the city will not solve the problem. Only time, and it will require patience.”
