“To the taxpayers of Menominee, are you aware that the Board of Education for Menominee Area Public Schools voted to pay a man named Grant Chandler over $60,000 per year for the next three years to do certain tasks for our school district? The school board claims that they don’t have enough money to pay for raises or repairs or other things that are needed. However, they believe the dog and pony show that Mr. Chandler presents to them and they think he walks on water. Google him and see how he has done in districts downstate.

“The school board does not seem to be aware that there is a teacher shortage right now. High-quality teachers keep leaving our district and there are no new graduates to replace them. Menominee students deserve better.

“If you have an interest or know of someone who has an interest in running for one of the four school board positions that are up for re-election this fall, then please pick up a petition from the Menominee county clerk’s office, 839 10th Ave. You need no less than 40 and no more than 100 signatures, or you can pay a $100 fee to waive the signature requirement. Petitions need to be turned in by July 21 at 4 p.m. The fate of our district depends on you and your fresh ideas”
