OCONTO—Lianna Baxter will be taking her talents to Oakland University, as the senior standout has signed on to play basketball for the Golden Grizzlies, a Division 1 school located in Rochester, Michigan.
The six-foot-one forward averaged 19.6 points, 11 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.7 blocks per game as a senior for the Lady Blue Devils, who won the Packerland Conference title and finished with a 23-3 record.
Baxter’s 1,638 career points are 94th all-time in Wisconsin girls basketball history. In 85 varsity games, she scored in double figures 81 times, racking up three triple-doubles in the process. Baxter also hauled in 855 career rebounds and led the state in blocked shots per game as sophomore.
The Golden Grizzlies began play in 1974 and have an all-time record of 756-434. They have qualified for the NCAA tournament twice, with the most recent appearance coming in 2006.
Baxter joins an Oakland squad that finished the 2021-22 season 15-15 overall and 11-9 in the Horizon League.
She is the daughter of Patrick and Christy Baxter.
