APPLETON, Wis.—Austin Burnside tossed a complete-game shutout as the Crivitz boys baseball team handled Xavier 3-0 in non-conference action Monday.

Burnside allowed just two hits across seven innings while striking out seven Hawks.

Crivitz led 1-0 after the second inning behind an offense that knocked in five base hits. Chase Gosse and Eli Gruszynski each tallied an RBI as the Wolverines (9-3 Marinette and Oconto Conference, 16-6 overall) scored two runs in the seven inning to seal the victory.

Crivitz hosted Peshtigo (5-3 Packerland Conference, 10-9 overall) on Tuesday in the regular-season finale for the Wolverines, with results unavailable at press time.

THREE LAKES, Wis.—A big sixth inning Three Lakes/Phelps doomed the Wausaukee boys baseball team in a 7-6 loss in non-conference play on Monday.

The game was tied 4-4 at the bottom of the sixth when Mitchell Wolosek blasted a two-run double to give the Blue Jays the lead. Three Lakes/Phelps (10-1 Northern Lakes Conference, 12-4 overall) tacked on another run to make it a 7-4 game.

The Rangers (4-8 M&O Conference, 6-11 overall) plated two runs in the top of the seventh inning but Wolosek shut the door in relief on the mound, striking out the final two batters to end the game.

Wausaukee recorded nine base hits, with Kamden Stumbris, Alex Wojcik and Conner Schroeder hitting two each. Will Koester, Danny Suennen and Christian Deschane all tallied RBIs.

Dominic Brunette took the loss on the mound, giving up four hits and four runs (one earned) while walking three and striking out five.

Wausaukee hosts Florence in the WIAA Division 4 Regionals Thursday, with first-pitch at 5 p.m.

Girls softball

CRIVITZ—The Crivitz girls softball team could muster only three base hits in a 13-0 blowout loss to Laona-Wabeno in non-conference competition Monday.

Riley Mueller, Lexi Franzmeier and Brooke McFadden were responsible for the Wolverines’ offensive output, with the Rebels’ pitching staff keeping Crivitz off the scoreboard.

Mueller took the loss on the mound for Crivitz (4-6 M&O Conference, 7-14 overall), giving up 13 runs (10 earned) and allowing 11 hits while issuing 11 walks. She also fanned three batters.

Crivitz hosts Three Lakes/Phelps in the WIAA Division 4 Regionals Wednesday at 5 p.m.
